Mechron manufactures auxiliary power units (APU's) designed for underhood use in vehicles and hybrid-electric equipment. The APU supplies power to the vehicle when stationary, allowing the main engine to be turned off. This greatly reduces the fuel consumption and wear of idling the vehicle's engine, decreasing operating and maintenance costs. For hybrid-electric applications, the APU can provide primary power or charge the main batteries, greatly increasing efficiency over conventional systems. Mechron APU's are designed to withstand the harsh environment of underhood installation, including cross-country operation and extreme temperature ranges from -50°C to +100°C. If required, APU's can be equipped with software controls to various standards, including CANBUS SAE J1939. Through collaborative engineering, Mechron APU's are custom designed to meet the specific configuration and installation requirements of each customer.
